Every piece we offer reflects centuries-old methods that have been carefully passed down through generations of skilled artisans.
In a world of mass production, we celebrate the beauty of the handmade. Each item in our collection is meticulously handcrafted by.
Ishobe is a word rooted in Rwandan artistic tradition, referring to a woven pattern of connected lines and shapes used to create rectangular fiber mats. These mats, often used as sleeping area mats, are made from naturally black and beige reeds and feature distinctive stepped zigzags and projecting triangles that divide the mat into sections.
In Rwandan craft and Culture, this pattern symbolizes how individual, natural elements come together to form something beautiful, meaningful, and whole, much like communities and cultures weaving their stories together.
At Ishobe Craft House, we bring this idea to life. Our space is more than a workshop or gallery, it’s a vibrant community hub where artisans, travelers, and culture lovers come together. Here, traditional craft meets modern creativity, and every piece reflects Rwanda’s heritage, artistry, and collective spirit.
We celebrate Rwandan culture and craftsmanship by supporting local artisans, showcasing handwoven textiles, baskets, décor, and art, and offering experiences that allow visitors to learn, create, and connect. Every pattern, color, and texture tells a story of the people, the culture, and the land.
At Ishobe, not only you collect a beautiful piece, you’re supporting Rwandan artisans as they preserve their craft, sustain their families, and carry tradition into the future. Each piece holds a story, and you become part of it.
